A Drop In The Ocean

Vernal Equinox explored the process of Winter melting into Spring while following along the stories of the oldest and youngest brother from Aleksis Kivi’s Seven Brothers, personified through circus skills and music. We had 3 weeks to form concepts, research, rehearse, and realise this project which created a very intense and rewarding production process. The music had me experiment with using found sounds (techno frogs in Fire building) and percussion (use of djembe throughout). My favourite track is Spring. Originally for this section, we'd found a perfect piece of music for it but as a composer, I wanted to write some new music. It was difficult but I was eventually able to create music with the exact feeling I was after, more so than the piece we'd originally found.
